 Spring is here!

Bring on the MINT JULEPS!

Have you ever had one?!

OH MY!

It's absolutely so refreshing on a warm sunny day!

So crisp, sweet, and easy to drink -

it's extremely dangerous!

Here's some recipes I use:

CLASSIC MINT JULEP

Yield: 1 DRINK

Prep time: 10minutes MINS

Total time: 10minutes MINS

This classic Mint Julep is bright and refreshing, with fresh mint and bourbon. You only need 3 ingredients and just a few minutes to prepare this bourbon cocktail!

INGREDIENTS

8 to 12 large fresh mint leaves (I like a LOT of mint!)

1 ounce simple syrup – use more if desired see notes below on how to make it

2 ounces good quality bourbon

1 sprig fresh mint for garnish

INSTRUCTIONS

Add mint leaves and simple syrup to the glass. *Muddle until the mint is fully broken up, about 15 seconds.

Add the bourbon.

*This is a Alcohol Muddler

Add crushed or pellet ice to nearly fill the glass – then stir for a full 20 seconds, to thoroughly chill the drink and to frost up the glass.

Mound more ice on top for its signature appearance, if desired.

Garnish with a sprig of mint and enjoy immediately.

NOTES

How to Make Simple Syrup:

Making a simple syrup is easy! Just combine ½ cup water and ½ cup sugar in a small saucepan over medium-high heat.

Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sugar is dissolved.

Remove from the heat and allow the syrup to cool before using.

Store any leftover simple syrup in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 month.

MINT JULEP RECIPE

Prep Time: 10

Total Time: 10 minutes

Yield: 1 drink 1x

DESCRIPTION

The Mint Julep is a fresh and minty bourbon cocktail!

For the mint simple syrup:

cup fresh mint leaves - 1 bunch

½ cup sugar

1 cup water

For the cocktail

2 ounces bourbon

1.5 ounces mint simple syrup

Mint sprig

crushed ice

INSTRUCTIONS - For the mint simple syrup

Mix the 1 cup water with the ½ cup sugar and 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh mint into a small pot. Simmer until sugar has dissolved and mint has been cooked. Let the mixture cool.

For the julep:

Mix 2 ounces of bourbon and 1 ounce of the mint simple syrup into a glass. Stir, add a mint sprig and fill with crushed ice.

NOTE

Try and make your simple syrup ahead of time, so it has time to thoroughly cool. You can make it a week ahead of time and store it in the fridge.

Mix your drink first and add the ice last. This drink is traditionally made by mixing everything together in a glass, adding the mint springs, and then topping it all off with ice.

Enjoy RESPONSIBILY!
